This trail meanders to the base of towering spires, one of which rises to a height of nearly 900 feet. UT 279 offers two other hiking trails, the Portal Overlook Trail and the Corona/Bowtie Arch Trail. One of Quintstar Management’s hotels would make an excellent lodging base camp for exploring Moab’s environs on foot. In addition to their close proximity to Arches National Park, lodging at one of Quintstar’s properties will put you within 45 minutes of the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park. Towering more than 1,000 feet above the surrounding topography, Canyonlands is home to spectacular vistas of mesas, buttes, bluffs and spires carved by millions of years of erosion. Some viewpoints offer visibility of up to 100 miles in many directions. Besides offering stunning views, Island in the Sky includes short hiking trails, including Whale Rock, Aztec Butte and Mesa Arch, which ends at a natural arch jutting out of a cliff wall. |
